Cayetano Creek Mitigation Bank Ph. 1 and 2

Work began in Phase 2 on the Collier Creek Preserve site, and included 3 acres of created wetlands which included outfall structures, plant installation, irrigation installation, native grassland seeding, and 6-month warranty maintenance. Phase 1 Cayetano Creek, included similar wetland creation with contoured uplands. 3,600 cubic yards of soil was imported from the Collier site to provide fill for the upland contours on the 30 acre wetland. This site had planting, irrigation, seeding and maintenance associated.

The excavation and contouring of uplands was completed with RTK Trimble GPS guided equipment, including bulldozers, scrappers, motor graders, and compactors all supported with small finish tractors, water trucks, and compactors.

The riparian woodland planting was a mix of large container native trees, and native shrubs. The irrigation system is a solar powered well pump with battery operated controllers to automate the bubbler irrigation system. Native grassland seeding was completed with Hanford's hydro seed truck.

The purpose of the mitigation bank is to create habitat for the California Tiger Salamander (CTS) and California Red Legged Frog (CRLF). In the spring of 2022, thousands of CTS juveniles were found in the ponds, CRLF was detected in Cayetano Creek.
