San Francisquito Creek Bank Stabilization Phase II

A creek bank stabilization project along 275 linear feet off the eastern bank of the San Francisquito Creek in Palo Alto.

At the bank toe, approximately 600 cubic yards of boulders with approximately 1200 cubic yards of backfill; a combination of engineered rock and soil. A total of 13 rootwads were installed at existing pools to provide streambank protection and interstitial space for fish habitat. Above the boulders and rootwads, a Lincoln-log style crib wall was installed to stabilize the bank. Helical anchors were installed to secure the logs. Native seed, willows, trees and shrubs were planted above the cribwall for additional stabilization. An automated drip irrigation system was used to water the native plants.
